Yay, God!
We have three teenage grandsons whom I call the three amigos. They have a special relationship, and I pray they will continue to stay close in spirit through the upcoming years.
I’m trying to finish making Christmas ornaments for all the grandkids, and I still have a few to go. But man! I bullied through today and finished the ones for the amigos. I had put off finishing for quite a while. The metallic thread gets me every time. I was working on them yesterday before we went out for supper. My fortune cookie said, ‘Work hard and be nice.’ I had to giggle as earlier I was telling that stubborn thread exactly what I thought of it!
Metallic thread has a mind of its own as it twists uncontrollably, frays, and in general aggravates the snot out of me!

I had myself a time finishing these. I had sewn one and finished off the top – in the wrong color metallic thread. Rather than leave it, I redid it. Sigh.
But I, the Queen of the Object Lesson, have placed not-so-hidden messages within my artwork.
There were three Hebrew young men who were taken to Babylon with Daniel. Their names in Hebrew had special meaning. Hananiah meant Yah (God) is gracious. His Babylonian name Shadrach meant Command of Aku the moon god. Mishael, Who is Like God? before he was renamed Meshach who referenced the god Shak. Azariah meant The Lord is my help, but Abednego put him as a Slave or Servant of the god Nebo.
I have told our boys that society will try to change them and their beliefs in God. I pray they will be as brave as those young men, have great wisdom from God, and stand for what is Truth no matter what!
The center of each outfit is a green cross. Funny color, right? But as they center God in their hearts and lives, I pray they will keep growing (symbolized by the green color) closer to God every day. I gave them angel halos to remind them to fill their minds with God’s word and Truth. The upraised arms were in the original design which I used as a basic pattern. I pray they realize God’s blessings and praise God with all their being.
I don’t know how many of these I have made in the last few years. I will continue to make more because I like to give them as gifts. I decided yesterday however, there will be NO MORE METALLIC thread except for halos and outlines. Mercy! My patience just won’t take that level of exasperation!
One of the neatest parts of today was finishing the top of Silas’s ornament. I had searched many places and couldn’t find any more of the bronze metallic thread. I had resigned myself to going for more at a store. But as I went through small bits of thread that had been carelessly thrown into the craft drawer where the angels had been stored, there it was! A single strand I was able to fold in half. And there was even some left over!

The smile on this little guy’s face could not match the huge grin on mine as I praised God for the provision. I know some people say, ‘God doesn’t care about little things like that!’ Maybe their god doesn’t, but my God does! 1 Peter 5:7 NKJV says to cast all your cares on Him as He cares for you. Just as I would try to help my children, my Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers with His help all the time. I couldn’t make it without Him! And like my little angels, I will give Him praise. Yay, God!
Blessings
Kara Beth
