Turning the Corner

I wanted a new filing cabinet for my music area. After a comment from Ronald, I took a good look at my life and my stacks of music I wanted to store.

The truth is I probably will never teach piano again. Just that was a lot of music.

I won’t be playing for weddings – piano or harp, so add all the regular harp music that is headed out the door because I am getting rid of my harps.

I’m keeping my books of religious music. We have a hymn sing once a month. And I can always play for funerals and memorial services.

So it all adds up. I don’t need another filing cabinet. I even have left over room for books from another room.

Things. Sigh.

I was telling of my morning’s work to a couple at the lunch table and sort of bemoaning my fate. My friend wisely said, ‘You are turning another corner.’ From a woman who struggles with speech due to some mental frailties, I considered her words pure pearls of wisdom that I will ponder and treasure.

What does it look like around the corner I have turned?

Ecclesiastes 3

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck what is planted; and a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to gain and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace. … I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. There’s always truth in Scripture that helps me find my way in life.
