Finding the Happy Place
After posting such a grumpy butt post this morning, I decided I needed to post a more positive one.
Since moving here, my pothos plants have found their happy place. I have trimmed them twice as they tend to take over the living room which seems to have perfect lighting for them to grow. The first cutting was several months ago right after the winter weather decided to move on.
At that time, I put armloads of cuttings on a double long card table and let the neighbors know those and the other plants I had harvested were available on my front porch. After all the plants were taken, I cleaned up the scraps and mess. One little stem fell to the ground. I was too lazy to pick it up, and there it has been for these months.
Ronald pointed it out the other day. Despite not being properly planted, the roots went through the pine straw and deep into the hard Georgia clay. Even as it snuggled closely to the cement footings that surround the building, the plant found a place to call home. We have started watering it and hope to see it thrive.
I cut the plants again a few weeks ago, posted a sign, and gave away cuttings from our front porch. After the lightning strike, it hasn’t been good for people to be on our walkway, so a neighbor two doors down agreed to put the bucket of plant clippings on her porch. People have been taking the cuttings since then. When the majority of good cuttings were taken, I decided to bring them home, cut them into smaller pieces, and make the rest of them available. They are so hardy, just the barest root stuck in a cup of water will flourish.

A good lesson for me in so many ways. I won’t bore you with my deep philosophical musings!
OR maybe just a few thoughts.
Being uprooted, cut apart from the familiar and comfortable, and thrown into an environment is where one has a choice. Thrive or shrivel.
Doing what has to be done to survive and grow is a challenge one can overcome.
Digging in to the available resources takes time and can be worth the effort.
Deuteronomy 30:19 ‘Choose life, that you and your offspring may live.’
James 1:12. ‘Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love Him.
Matthew 6:25ff ‘Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. … Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life. And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? … Your Heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.’
