Praise the Lord!
Well, we had some excitement at the old people place.
In the night, we heard a very loud crack of lightning and tremendous thunder. I woke up, said, ‘Dear Jesus!’ Ronald said, ‘Wow, that was close.’ We both rolled over and went back to sleep.
Some time later, Ronald was awakened by loud knocking and ringing of the doorbell. He was shocked to see a fire truck in front of the house and even more startled by the destruction. The lightning had hit our villa and blown a good bit of the front porch to smithereens! As he led the firemen to the garage to go to the attic, he saw the plate that covers the sprinkler was blown from the ceiling and the security lock on the front door was snapped in two.
It’s a crazy way to spend the night. I let Ronald deal with everything. The firemen saw nothing smoldering in the attic and went on their way. After everyone left, Ronald got me up to see the ruins, I said, ‘Praise the Lord,’ and went back to bed. I figured God had protected us and would continue to do so. No need for me to fret.
This morning, I had to flip a few circuits to get my lights and recliner to reconnect. There is still a circuit in the kitchen that is not working, but whatever. Thank the Lord for my surge protector which kept my computer safe during the process.
There will be a lot of clean up and reworking of the damaged area. Not my problem. I’ll probably sleep in my recliner for some of that process as well. I’m not that lazy really, but I’m still recovering from moving furniture yesterday and rearranging all my plants in the living room after giving them a severe trim.
I love storms. I watch as the clouds roil through above the lake. I know there are times when the devastation of a storm is horrendous. I may at some time have to deal with that. But for now, I’ll just say, ‘Praise the Lord,’
Proverbs 3:24 ESV ‘If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.’
Psalm 4:8. ‘In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.’
John 14: 27 Jesus said, ‘Peace I leave with you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.’
