What a Hypocrite!

Yep, folks. That would be me!

I found that the abandoned building across the lake is owned by this old people place. It shut down amidst the government sponsored covid pandemic and the resulting panic. All sorts of personal items, furniture, and appliances were left along with trash that was never cleaned up. Revolting!

We were searching for a table belonging to one of the couples here. The table had been loaned for use during last Christmas and was mistakenly taken to that facility which is now used as storage. We did find the table, but we also found the place houses a beautiful Roland piano.

Left to rot unused along with everything else there.

I have been on a tear asking everyone to bring it over to our clubhouse so we can make use of it. Ranting to anyone who’ll listen.

Until the Lord reminded me I have 3 beautiful sewing machines that have been sitting unused in my sewing area. In a pout, I have not done even the mending I could have been doing. Shame on my hypocritical attitude!

I need to use what the Good Lord has given me and stop my whining!

Today was a rough day on my Christian attitudes and actions for sure!

I pride myself on being a sweet and gentle spirit and always try to say what will be a blessing or don’t speak at all.

Hypocrite Alert!

Total fail!

After lunch, Ronald kissed one of the sweet ladies on the cheek on the way out. This old codger who is always her table mate and often says mean things to her and others said very loudly to this lady, ‘You are disgusting!’

Well, already being in a snit this morning, I was not very far from being inappropriate already and let my feelings be known. I rained on the old coot. ‘And you are as mean as a snake!’

So much for my Christian witness. Sigh.

But I’m a little surprised the whole room didn’t break out in applause. Giggle.

Anyway. The old saying about ‘ O would some power the good gift give us to see ourselves as others see us’ could be today’s challenge. A good old fashioned reality check is what I gave myself today.

But I am EXTREMELY thankful that God is a very gracious and merciful Savior who not only addresses my failures but also forgives. He corrects me, then shows me how to walk in a straighter path with more godly attitudes and actions.

May it be so.

I’m sharing some of the verses I found to address today’s issues.

Hebrews 13 reminds me to ‘be content’ with what I have. In Luke 12, Jesus warned me to take  care and be on my guard against all covetousness, for my life doesn’t consist in the abundance of possessions.

And as far as me letting my mouth overload my backside, how about Judge not, lest I be judged? Oops! (Matthew 7) Proverbs 15 is pretty plain. ‘A harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. A gentle tongue is a tree of life.’

So …

‘Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.’ Psalm 139

Like I said,

May it be so.

Blessings

Kara Beth
