Giving Thanks

First of all, I want to thank Layers and Crumbs Cake in Newnan, Georgia. SJ did a beautiful job of creating my vision for a gift and delivered as I wished to people who have helped me since 2020. Double whammy thanks!

Second of all, I want to talk about a strange way of giving thanks.

I have been pulling pictures from albums which I don’t have room to store. I sent the pictures via computer or snail mail. As I’ve gone down memory lane, I’ve been overwhelmed as I remembered the wonderful friends, family, and experiences with each one. I have been blessed and thank God for these people and the opportunities we’ve had in different types of community relationships. As I think about each person, I want to thank people who have taken the time and effort to be our friends. Lord knows, I sometimes am a real challenge! But again thanks for being in my life.

Giving thanks is never overdone in my book.

And I sorta think – no! I know for sure, I do not give God the praise and thanks He deserves. Yeah, so this may end up being just Bible verses to inspire me to give thanks to the One who is the source of every blessing.

Here’s something I don’t remember knowing. Thanksgiving focuses on the blessings in our lives. Praise is acknowledging God’s nature and our love for Him and leads us toward an intimate relationship with the Lover of our souls. Interesting, right?

Isaiah 25:1 NKJV  ‘O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You. I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.’

Psalm 150 has some neat verses. ‘Praise the Lord! … Praise Him according to His excellent greatness! … Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.’

I want to encourage my readers to consult a site called Open Bible.info which lists verses about most any Biblical topic you can think of. Thanksgiving and praise verses abound. I can’t begin to type them all tonight. Instead, I’ll think on a few verses and let them settle deep in my soul.

Indeed, God is good and faithful.

Be blessed.
