God’s Sense of Humor
If you don’t believe God has a sense of humor, just read my tale!
I was grumping around this evening and told the Good Lord about it. I didn’t want to do my crafts I’m making for Christmas gifts. I didn’t want to clean up my sewing room or anything else! And I sure didn’t want to practice my harp after last night’s horrible practice time. Any musician knows you have good days of practice and some days you can’t hit the right notes to save your life!
I said, ‘Lord, I need something from Your Word to lift my spirits.’ Psalm 81 came to my mind. And wouldn’t you know it. Verses 1 and 2 showed me exactly what to do!
‘Sing for joy to God our strength! …
Begin the music … play the melodious harp and lyre.’
So guess what I did?
That’s right! I got off my grumpy backside, arranged my music on the stand, practiced my harp, and giggled with God throughout my time at the instrument. Or at least I hope He had as much fun as I did.
I haven’t played much on my harp in a long time until these last two weeks – somewhat due to various aches and pains, but mostly due to laziness. Since Ronald volunteered me to play the harp at Christmastime, I am trying to commit some time daily to getting my callouses back. Sometimes I need some promptings to practice.
Not anymore! I figure if God gave me that word today, it will be the same in the days to come. ‘Sing for joy to God my strength’ is going to be my new mantra. ‘Play the melodious harp’ will be my daily habit.
I thought this incident was so funny, I just had to write a blog about it – if for no other reason than to remind myself that God answers my prayers when I seek Him and His truth even about the insignificant and silly things in my life.
Blessings
