Where in the world is my hot glue gun when I need it?
Mercy! I’m sitting writing this blog instead of doing what I need to do. For the lack of my hot glue gun, my good intentions for the day were lost. Temporarily at least. Plus I need a rest.
Four o’clock came too early this morning. Thought I might do something constructive. Which I did first – my Bible study is now on one of my favorite characters – Joshua. The Bible says he did all the Lord commanded. Wouldn’t that be a neat epitaph? I’m sure that won’t come to mind when people offer their last words about me. ‘An ultimate mess maker’ will be a common comment if they know me at all.
I am trying my best to use the Christmas supplies I have and apply them to my new environment. Since 90% of the greenery I had accumulated bit the dust last year, I am stretching the little I have as far as possible. I don’t have a tree anymore, so my brilliant plan is to hot glue three graduated sized drums together (already painted with blue glitter – what else?), trim them with the little bit of greenery left, and top them with my ‘Grinch’ tree.
I made a mock up and without glueing it, I started moving it from place to place to find the best spot.

It found the floor to be quite comfortable.
Maybe I’ll finish the blog this afternoon, but for now, I need to get back to work. The tables I showed yesterday need to have all the ornaments wired to the greenery. I already knocked off three orbs this morning. Sigh.
Besides, if I wait till afternoon, I may actually have some successful things to show. Maybe.
I borrowed a hot glue gun, glued my drums together, wrapped the edges with greenery, rearranged it several times, finally threw it in the garbage when it fell apart. I hadn’t realized the drum heads were VERY unstable surfaces on which to glue another drum.
It’s okay. No one played the drums, they scattered glitter all over, and I didn’t have room for them anyway – Christmas or not.
I decided my plants which had been roosting outside since we moved here could double as Christmas trees. The plant towers had sported stars for years, no matter the season.

The stars were object lessons of course, which reminded me of the Star of Bethlehem which led to the Christ Child which always led my thoughts turning to Truth. Wise men once sought the King (though how they got close then got lost is beyond me!). In my other house, I always had my bold statement canvas predominantly displayed. Whether man or woman, boy or girl, the wise still seek after the things of God.
Now it sits in my library area / sewing room / exercise room. I had to crop the picture like crazy so the junk wouldn’t show!
Other than stowing everything to work on another day, I added these decorations to Ronald’s TV room. I couldn’t fit all the stuffed manger scene characters, so the main ones will have to do.

I still have my Little People manger scene that will probably celebrate the season in a box. Unless one of our neighbors and I get inspired to decorate the clubhouse.
Becky stopped by with pictures of the rehab home she and her husband ran which sheltered 160 men. Over the years, she put up trees for the men – some of whom had never had a Christmas tree except at their Grandma’s. She and the men literally put up 30 or 40 a year! How fun is that!
More fun than my next chore which is the clean up. Though I’m not finished, I figure I’ve done a good days work.
Last thought for the day from the Living Bible. Psalm 119:2. ‘Happy are all who search for God and always do His will.
Blessings
Kara Beth
