Quirky
Yep. Quirky. Don’t really care.
Major Mess Alert!!!
This blog is all over the place. I’m sure not having Ronald, ever the English teacher, read my totally random thoughts – nowhere near the 5 paragraph essay he loved to teach!
As I try to get my act together, not everything has a place. How I can continue to place something for later use then five minutes later be unable to find it?
Probably I put it among some other clutter.
Like I did trying to find my harp tuner. I had searched the piano bench 3 times, grabbing miscellaneous cords that belonged to earphones and microphones. Assuming the harp tuner and harp key were not amongst the messy array, I threw everything back and went to another possible storage place. Not there either. At Ronald’s suggestion, I looked again. Not there.
Isn’t there an old saying, ‘Third time’s the charm?’
I decided to untangle the cords to see what all was in the cramped space. Three microphone cords later, I found the black tuner tangled in with them. How I missed seeing the green harp key is beyond me! I need to carefully stow both the key and the tuner in the box I use to raise up my little harp to a comfortable height. It is always under the corner chair, easily visible, and I am writing this in my blog so I’ll have a reminder where I placed the necessary items!
In my old house, I had a display of object lesson curios on my entertainment center. 99.9% of my doodads are in boxes in the garage, securely wrapped and totally hidden. If I were looking for a specific item, it would be more challenging than finding the tuner.
Which makes me sad. Many were trinkets I used as Prayer Prompts. The really neat fossil dish my kids brought from Morocco reminded me that even in old age, I pray I can still be interesting and useful. A little cross reminded me to pray for the vendors at the fair where I purchased it and also all those who try to make a living with their art. The LEGO soldier reminded me to pray for my family that they would always faithfully and bravely fight for Truth. My kaleidoscopes reminded me to look at others and see their beauty. So many items, so many prayers.
All in boxes – for now.
But some things are deliberately kept in sight. This cute cup was given to Ronald as we had our last day at the Presbyterian church where I was playing piano. It makes me smile as I remember the sweet choir kids who gave it. Little did they know it would serve as a prayer prompt for them and indeed for all my own grandchildren as they head to school each day.
So – organized and elegant I am not.
Prayerful – I am.
Mama used to say she didn’t know why God was keeping her around except she could pray which she firmly believed made a difference. I think her philosophy was a good one, and I hope I am carrying on her legacy.
In thinking how I can make a difference in my quirky maturity, I do know a neat verse about my purpose. Psalm 71:18 NKJV. ‘Now also when I am old and gray headed, O God, do not forsake me until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.’
Blessings
