Picture Perfect Patience
Wanna see what patience looks like?

We’ve been trying to make my ‘nest.’ From the beginning of the process, we’ve had help at both ends. The initial purging that took place in Thomaston was a shock to my system, but at least I had some help. Much of the purging here has been done by yours truly and resulted in numerous trips to No Longer Bound Thrift. Disposing of my ‘treasures’ is still difficult, but getting easier.
Once we got here, it’s taken me a while to decide where things go. It’s still a work in progress but coming together a bit. Initially, Amanda was here from Louisville and Jeremy, our son-in-law from Alpharetta teamed up to get some of my grandchildren’s art work on the walls. As I consider these some of my most treasured valuables, I was glad to have them up.
However …
None had those toothy hangers on the back. Anytime anyone came in the door and accidentally touched one picture, it and several others were jarred and ended up skewed.
Which resulted in a project in patience.
As I have done this more than once in the past, I have a routine which requires a number of tools. Thankfully, I knew where they were due to an earlier sorting frenzy.
Because my fat little fingers have trouble holding everything in place to get the hanger level, I mark the center then glue the hangers in place. Bingo! Then the teeny nails have help from a push pin to make the holes into which I place the little nails. Again, the fat finger thing necessitates me holding that rascal with a special tool so I can hammer.
That too is a process. I hold the nail between tweezers with my right hand and begin hammering with the left. Once it is secure enough, I change to hammering with the right.

Yes, it’s as crazy as it sounds, but keeping to the process and plan works for me. Slow but sure.
Finally, the hanging of the pictures commences. I had to put in a few place fillers of my own dirty pours until the two ‘littles’ come to create their own masterpieces. The pictures still need adjusting to be really level, but that’s a project for another day. Even the angle the nails go into the wall makes a difference.
So, I can truthfully say I have patience. But sadly, only in some things. But I am working on it.
Shoot! I haven’t slapped anybody baldheaded in a long time! I haven’t blessed out anyone (to their faces), nor have I thrown anything in aggravation – Well at least for two weeks. Not since my grandson saw the results of some frustration strewn all over the floor near my recliner. Oops.
Of course, the Bible has a bajillion verses on patience – mostly in the spiritual sense but some that apply to the world here and now and how we deal with everyday situations and other people.
So I am still working on patience and need every one of those bajillion verses and a big dose of Holy Ghost revival in my heart. I’d rather work on the spiritual meaning of patience. Day to day patience in ordinary things gets my panties in a knot.
So here’s the Truth.
James 1 NKJV says ‘Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.’ I’m hoping for patience without the trials, but I guess that’s not the process.
Ecclesiastes 7:8-9 – ‘Finishing is better than starting! Patience is better than pride! Don’t be quick-tempered – that is being a fool.’ Oops again!
James 5:8 TLB – ‘You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.’
Lots of lessons to think on.
Blessings
Kara Beth
