Did Jesus Giggle?

I hope no one finds this blog offensive. It isn’t even 2 am on Easter morning. I woke up and can’t go back to sleep, so I decided to work on a blog based on a silly thought I had before I went to bed last night. That’s my excuse.

My youngest grandkids whom we call ‘the littles’ have a new trick they think is funny. Of course, Grammie thinks it is adorable. They hide behind a corner and when you pass by, they yell, ‘Boo!’

For the last few days, I’ve been pondering the crucifixion of Christ. In addition to it being the Easter season, I also have been reading the account in John during my regular Bible studies. I hate reading that part. It makes me so sad even though I know it was a necessary step in the salvation process. It is upsetting for me to imagine the suffering and pain Jesus went through.

The Bible is silent in the gospels’ narratives about what Jesus did after He actually gave up His life on the cross and before He showed Himself. The resurrection is an exciting revelation of His ability to overcome death and return to greet His followers.

For some crazy reason, I was thinking and wondering. Did Jesus giggle in anticipation as He waited to show Himself as their risen Lord? Of course, He knew what their reaction would be, but would He have been totally serious as He first presented Himself to the grieving disciples, or would He have been overjoyed to have completed His purpose and now be able enjoy His Divinity?

Hiding in wait, my grandkids hold their hands over their mouths to keep from laughing as they prank the adults. Was Jesus that excited to show His friends all He had told them was truth? Did He rub His hands together in anticipation as He prepared Himself to meet His crew in a locked room they thought no one could enter?

The littles want a person to be scared and scream wildly.

Jesus first words to the surprised group were, ‘Peace be with you!’ How’s that for showing His loving heart?

When meeting some of His followers on the road to Emmaus,  the guys didn’t recognize Jesus. His words were comfort and gentle reminders of Biblical examples and His words. It wasn’t until Jesus broke bread with them that they recognized Him.

How many times do I fail to recognize His presence in my daily life? How many times do I miss His leading? How many times, especially right now, do I allow worry and fear of the future to overwhelm me instead of faithfully trusting that Jesus is with me and has a perfect plan to get us where we are intended to be at this stage of our lives?

Katharses, right?

Psalm 32:8 TLB ‘I will instruct you,’ says the Lord, ‘and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.’

Comforting words to assure me of God’s presence in my life. May I be wise enough to recognize this truthl

Blessings on this Resurrection Day!
