Dig Deeper
Bless my heart! Mama always said I couldn’t find my backside with both hands. I can find my backside, but everything else is up for grabs.
These days, I have so many pans in the fire, or what is that old saying? Oh, yeah. It’s irons in the fire. Not sure what that actually means. Some old saying older than I am, so it’s pretty ancient.
Anyway.
I get distracted as I run around like a chicken with my head cut off – which is another old saying. I’ve never personally seen that and hope to goodness I don’t. But I get the drift. I was going to say I am running around harum scarum, but that doesn’t mean what I thought it meant. NERD ALERT! It is actually a phrase from the 17th century describing wild behavior, which is NOT what I am doing! Definitely closer to the chicken, I am.
Between packing for the move, party prep, and doing crafts for different ones, I am rather scattered. In the process, I am misplacing a few things here and there … and WHERE?
Early last week or sometime, I was sick and tired of wearing my hearing aids. They make me nervous, cause different noises to be scratchy sounding, itch my ears, and generally bother me. I wasn’t where I could put them properly in the case, took those rascals out, and tossed them into a ‘convenient’ place.
And I have been searching for them ever since. Until today.
On the way to Hobby Lobby, aka heaven, I searched the glove box and console one more time. Nothing.
Then I started digging through my backpack style purse for the zillionth time. I kept pulling item after item from the purse until I reached the very bottom of the very center. Lo and Behold! There were my hearing aids! I didn’t do a dance of joy, but I did say a very sincere prayer of thanksgiving to God for helping find them. He is so good! I know He probably gets tired of me asking for help finding things I lose, but I feel He is concerned with what concerns me. I do need those aggravating hearing aids, especially in group situations. I was concerned about having to replace them because our new insurance isn’t as good as what we had. (Great big derisive BOO to Illinois Teacher’s Retirement System for changing companies!)
Anyway. I was glad I dug deeper.
Which brings me to the verses of the day which speak of the Scriptures telling of the wonderful things God has ready for those who love Him and dig deeper into His Word.
1 Corinthians 2:10-16 TLB ‘But we know about these things. because God has sent His Spirit to tell us, and His Spirit searched out and shows us all of God’s deepest secrets. … And God has actually given us His Spirit to tell us about the wonderful free gifts of grace and blessing that God has given us. … But the spiritual man has insight … to know the Lord’s thoughts, or to discuss them with Him, or to move the hands of God by prayer. But, strange as it seems, we Christians actually do have within us a portion of the very thoughts and mind of Christ.’
Though I redacted some of the section, like all Scripture, it is worth digging deeper into the Word of God and reading it for yourself. Life’s questions can be found within the Bible’s pages. God’s Truth can become known more fully as we study it. God’s Spirit can become stronger within us as we follow the wisdom found there.
Blessings
Kara Beth
