Totally Blessed

From the time my three girls could talk, they were singing. I was blessed through the years to accompany them. Even now when given the opportunity, I con them into singing as I play for them.

This morning, we had a crazy beginning to church. NO POWER! Thankfully, the piano is old school and the sun had begun to shine before the service started. The sun shone through the lovely stained glass windows and allowed us to have church.

I always play about thirty minutes before church starts. I enjoy playing and worshipping with songs of praise. I don’t know if anyone else is listening, but I have a feeling that God is listening to my notes and to my heart.

This morning was special for me. One of the young ladies who sings in the choir joined me at the piano. She knew several of the hymns I chose, and we spent a long time singing together before people began filing in and church officially started. It was wonderful! She promised she would join me next week as well. Wish you could see my happy face!

Music is so important to my emotional well-being. This experience emphasized the importance of including young people in worship. As they learn to use their gifting for the Kingdom, they will find an inner peace that only worship can bring.

There is a story in Matthew 21 about Jesus healing the blind and lame who came to the temple. When the children responded to the miracles with shouts of praise – Hosanna to the Son of David! – the chief priests and teachers of the law were indignant. ‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked Him. ‘Yes,’ replied Jesus, ‘have you never read, ‘From the lips of children and infants You, Lord, have called forth Your praise?’

Isaiah 54:13 NKJV says, ‘All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.’

Psalm 8:1, 2 NLT  ‘O Lord, our Lord Your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of Your strength, silencing Your enemies and all who oppose You.’

Seems to me if the praises of children have that much power, must we not encourage their voice to ring out? How much more so should our own?

Blessings to all

Kara Beth
