Funny!
God has a funny way of addressing situations in my life.
Take for instance, our move north.
For years I’ve said, ‘No way on God’s green earth do I want to live again where there is snow.’ If you read my blogs, you know I gave up saying that phrase last year when I was convicted about its use.
But like it or not, we’ll be moving where there will likely be snow several times a year.
SO –
God gave me a preview of things to come. Yep. It snowed pretty heavily in good ol’ Thomaston, Georgia!

And guess what? I survived! Of course, I didn’t go out to the mailbox until the snow had melted off the drive and off the road. And Ronald and I did sit in the sunshine a few minutes this afternoon in our special ‘out of the wind garage cabana!’ So it wasn’t that bad.
Because they don’t salt the roads here or have snow plows, everything has been closed since the snow was predicted. Add those issues to the hilly terrain and drivers’ inexperience, and you’ve got potential for dangerous situations. So everything was canceled, and we snuggled in our nice, warm home. Can I say a Big Thank the Lord for that?!?! And for the well-stocked freezer and cabinets? We are so blessed! What’s a little snow when we have so much to be thankful for?
Not that I want another snowfall anytime soon, but whatever. Last I checked, God was in control of that.
What I can control is my attitude. Being a complainer or a praiser is up to me. Even as I anticipate living in the cold further north, I have a choice. I’m determined happiness and a peaceful attitude will be my modus operandi. Period! I am getting way too old to walk around grumping about things I can’t change. I will rejoice in my daily life, cold or warm, sunny or cloudy. I will celebrate each day!
Speaking of which!!!
If you read my Facebook page, you know special things are in the offing for our Celebrate Life party March 15th!!! I’m so excited!
We are going to be doing everything in green because of St. Patrick’s day. I’ve ordered games, and gifts, and decorations. I’ve planned green foods and drinks of all sorts. I’m still having my doubts about serving traditional corned beef and cabbage, so I’m going with ham and various green sides.
I’ve even got our own Leprechaun appearing to lead the fun!
If I could find a bagpiper, my day would be complete.
But being surrounded by Thomaston friends and family one last time will be treat enough. We’ve been so blessed through our years here.
I’ll be giving more information later, but our charity will be packing gifts bags with activities and toys for pediatric cancer patients. Everyone will get really tired of me harping on this, but I really want this last time to be very special.
Back to the beginning – from all the verses about snow, I figure God kinda likes it, so I’d better get with the program!
Isaiah 1:18 NKJV ‘Come now, let us reason together,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow.’
In Isaiah 55:10, God uses snow as a kind of object lesson. The rain and snow come from heaven to water the earth and doesn’t return there and makes the earth bring forth its fruit. God’s word goes forth from Him and will not return to Him void, but it will accomplish what He pleases and shall prosper according to His purpose and will.
Something to think about.
Blessings
Kara Beth
