The End
Before I write a blog outlining our hopes and goals for the new year, I want to take time this evening to remember the past year. We’ve been counting our blessings, naming them one by one.
January 2024 had me in the hospital for a few days for an undetermined malady. Whatever it was seemed to have been stopped at its roots by the EMTs. Praise God, nothing like it since!
February had us in Atlanta for Ronald’s heart stents. According to him, it was easy peasy. Another, Yay, God! I get to keep the old man for another year!
We enjoyed spending time watching grandkids in track, cross country, soccer, recitals, and random visits when we could. How blessed we are!
Falling 4 times in April had me back in physical therapy as I hoped to skip another slice and dice. At least I was able to have it postponed until late summer. Because we put off the surgery, we were able to go to Louisville and Alpharetta several times, help with Bible School, and have a mini-Grammie camp. It was great to go to Costa Rica and Guatemala in August. So thankful for the safe travels and fun times!!!
August found me in the hospital again getting the second hip tear repaired. I’m thankful I only have two hips! I knew what to expect and was more prepared physically and emotionally this time around. I was able to round up crafts to do during the six weeks of immobility and enjoyed doing something constructive rather than moaning and groaning. I am very thankful for the expertise and wonderful care I received from doctors and staff through the year.
I do have one complaint however. Though the doctor warned me he could fix the hip tear, he could not cure my clumsiness. I am still looking for a doctor with that particular skill as I have tripped three times in the last week. And that doesn’t even count my daily spills!
I am particularly happy I realized I can cross stitch again because of my eye surgery in 2023!!!
I was thankful to be able to play for West Village where my mother was a resident. I miss them now that I am playing for the Presbyterians. I’m still trying to figure out how Ronald and I can go have hymn sings with the old ones occasionally.
I am thankful for the fun I’ve had going to the Lego store this year. Shows at least I’m young at heart, right?
We have enjoyed watching the Ray Vander Laan videos where he explains the Bible as he tours the Holy Land. There is no way I could go and see those places and do all that walking!
I appreciate Enduring Word, the Bible study source that keeps me on track in my daily devotionals.
Ronald and I survived our first bout with covid. Thank the Lord for His healing touch.
We are particularly thankful to have had the three girls and their families with us for several days after Christmas. Too much fun!!! (Way too much food, but that’s another story!)
Have you taken time to think through the year and say a big thank you to the God who blesses us daily?
I leave you this last verse for the year. Psalm 106:1 NKJV ‘Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.’
Blessings
Kara Beth
