Movin’ On!

Two backstories.

Back in the day, Ronald used to paint houses during the summers. One Friday afternoon, he and his partner finished early. When Ronald arrived home, he asked if I wanted to go camping. Twenty minutes later, the girls and I had the camper packed, and we were out the door.

When we decided to move to Georgia, we told Mom she had to move with us so I could care for her in her seniority. She was 76 at the time. She dove into the process and within a few months, she joined us in Thomaston. She got involved in the community and went to every senior’s group in town. She knew more people than we did! What a trooper!

Fast forward nearly 20 years. Ronald woke up the other morning and asked, ‘What would you think of moving north to be closer to the kids?’

I think the last trip driving through Atlanta ’bout did him in. We were nearly home when a young lady was on her phone, not paying attention, and nearly ran into us. Only God’s grace, Ronald’s calm skill, and the attention of the guy in the third lane kept us from a VERY serious accident.

We are also learning by example of friends and family and trying to be wise in our own ‘seniority.’

Anyway. I said, ‘Give me twenty minutes.’

I know it will be a process. How long it will take and the details will be up to God’s direction. I pray we are wise enough and good listeners to God’s still small voice to know the whens and wheres of the process.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust the Lord with all my heart and to not lean on my own understanding. In all my ways I am to acknowledge Him so He will make my paths straight. I sure hope so. We looked around up there near Dawsonville, and I seriously needed a big dose of Dramamine! Not a straight road in sight!

I take Psalm 143:10 as my own as I ask for God to teach me to do His will, because truly, He is my God. Another great verse about asking God’s good Spirit to lead me on level ground! That’s my prayer for sure!

Psalm 119:105 talks of God’s word being a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I know I won’t get the 10 year plan memo, just the day by day direction. I’m okay with that.

I feel a bit like ol’ Abraham who in Hebrews 11:8, or at least I hope I am. By faith or trusting God, when God told him to leave home and go somewhere else to a land that God promised to give him, Abraham obeyed. And away he went, without a clue where he was going. That my friend, is faith!

There are many verses and examples about trusting and following God’s guidance with faith. May I have listening ears and pliable heart to hear and see where God is leading us.

It all rests on our very strong belief from Jeremiah 29:11. ‘For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.’ NLB

You’ll see a lot of ‘katharses’ blogs before the process is completed. Please say some prayers for us.

Blessings
