Peace
I tell you what! I have said it before, but I’ll tell you again! I am gifted – I can break, shatter, tear up, rip up, or knock over anything that comes near me without thinking twice!!! Is that talent, or what!
Yeah. It’s mostly what. And what it is = Klutzy!!!
I am walking around on two feet but like a sissy, I’m afraid to be without one of my walkers or the wheelchair. Maybe I’ll blame the wheelchair instead of my clumsiness or my driving abilities on today’s accident.
I’ve been setting up a few things for Christmas. This little picture of my peace angel was set on the tripod in the corner by my bedroom door with its coordinating Christmas tree and large star tucked amid some greenery. Perfect!
Until I hit it with the wheelchair.
Since I can’t bend over properly, it’s a booger to set up again. Lord knows, I’ve had enough practice. I’ve already knocked it over two other times, so I should have learned to sit the thing elsewhere. You would think I am smarter than that! But then again…..
Anyway. I think duct tape is in its future!
My mishap resulted in guess what? You’re right! An Object Lesson for the day!
I hope you understand that my ‘Object Lessons’ are always an opportunity for me to think about God – my daily ‘God Moments’.
As I have repeatedly knocked over the PEACE picture and ruined my little vignette, I thought about my personal, emotional, spiritual peace. How often do I allow the small things that irk me upset my peace? Do I fall apart when my plans don’t go according to my to-do list? Do I fear the future and fail to follow my faith? Do the things I cannot control result in panic rather than peace? Will today’s worthless worries sideswipe my hopes and happiness? How often is my peace destroyed? On a daily basis? Hourly? By the minute?
As I looked up sources to quote, I first searched GotQuestions.org and found an excellent overview. I will not plagiarize the article but encourage you to look up ‘What is the peace of God, and how can I experience it?’
There is an interesting dialogue between Jesus and His disciples in John 16. As Jesus told of the upcoming trials He would face, He finalized the discussion with these words. ‘These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.’
The Old Testament prophet Isaiah gives the perfect prescription for peace. TLB Isaiah 26:3,4. ‘God will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in Him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord! Trust in the Lord God always, for in the Lord Jehovah is your everlasting strength.’
As I plan out the next few weeks which will include the tribulations and torture of outpatient therapy, I know I will need God’s peace to be able to share His love and joy instead of griping and complaining. As I pray for the upcoming election and the state of our nation, I refuse to be afraid because I know God has a master plan. No matter what happens, I will claim God’s peace!
So this is my prayer for you today. 2 Thessalonians 3:16. ‘Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.’
(I nearly lost my peace when I accidentally closed this without saving it! Thank the Lord, the site does it automatically!)
Anyway. (Yes, that word is annoying, isn’t it?)
Blessings anyway!!!
Kara Beth
PS. Words of Wisdom
There is very little in life that a bit of Southern engineering and a lot of duct tape won’t cure!!!
