🎶 It’s Beginning To Look a Lot 🎶
Yep. The great spoiler has done it again.
Ronald knew I NEEDED to put up some Christmas decorations. And today began the great process!! LOVE that man!
My decorations never end up the same – sometimes they are changed from year to year. Or I should say, they are always different – because I have broken things. This year is no different. I had already dropped innumerable, unbreakable, glittery balls that bounced happily across the floor as I growled at my clumsiness. Sadly, as I was scooting my blue hologram drape further down the top of the piano, the votive cup I had already set in place toppled to the floor. Unlike the sparkly orbs, the blue glass hit the tile floor with a splat and shattered. Unless I can find one like it at a thrift store, I’m pretty sure I am out of luck on replacing that one. But hey! One more piece of junk my kids won’t throw away in a few years.
I keep telling myself and Ronald I am going to decorate more simply this year. We’ll see how that resolution pans out. I don’t have much hope in retaining that stance. I love Christmas.
Once the season starts changing and it is darker for longer on each end of the day, the lights are a joy to me. Of course, they are all blue which is very calming.
I am going to try my best to use what I have without buying more. After giving away over a hundred ornaments last year as I purged, I may need a trip or two to Hobby Lobby – aka heaven. Like I said, I’ll try. We’ll see.
And yes. There was Christmas music playing in the background as I worked. Marvelous!
But, alas! It is too warm for hot chocolate to properly set the mood, and there are no cookies in my near future. Sigh. I did way too much comfort eating during my early recuperation time, so I’m being a good old lady for a while. (I started to say a good girl, but that train left the station years ago!)
Anyway. My house will once again be strewn with blue glitter from one end to the other. As I am typing this, I see the J has a bright blue sparkle on it. Thankfully, I have a keyboard protector that will keep that little rascal from falling in the cracks and shorting out my computer.
Some families keep secrets about the gifts they buy for each other. We always give money for Christmas (boring!), so no secrets there. Which is just as well. I can’t keep those kinds of secrets to save my life! (Though I do keep confidences.)
Therefore – Â I have to do something special. Putting up Christmas things early makes me smile. It’s all good. Shoot! I already have my New Year Object lesson gifts purchased. Unlike their mama, none of my girls wants me to tell them the secret of what the gifts are. Where’s the fun in that?
It’s funny. God must not like secrets much either. All throughout Scripture, He gave wonderful hints to outright statements on how He would bring salvation to humanity. But why, you may ask. Glad you asked.
John 3:16 -17 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God didn’t send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Let me know when you put up Christmas decorations and send pictures. What fun!
Blessings
Kara Beth
