Celebrate!

Though I don’t think I’m going to be up to having my annual Celebrate Life Party in November as I planned, I am getting into my annual Celebration Mindset!

After all, it is nearly Christmas! Ronald says maybe he’ll haul out some Christmas ornaments for me next week. What kind of fun is that?!?!?! Just thinking about it makes me happy!

I found myself celebrating this morning over something most people don’t think about, much less celebrate.

I was able to put on my underwear and britches all by myself!!! Yay, me! At this stage, it is easier said than accomplished, but I did get ‘er done! And I am thanking the Lord for the strength and coordination = Happy Toe Tap Dance Celebration! (seated in my wheelchair, but it was fun!)

Of course, since I met one of my daughter’s friends, Laura, I am much more cognizant of the effort required for dressing one’s self. My time of trial is a few months. Laura’s has been forever. Having that relationship has put me in a different mindset for sure.

Yesterday, I insisted on Ronald taking me to Hobby Lobby. I promised we could do lunch out as his reward. It certainly wasn’t the dumbest thing I’ve ever insisted on, but it wasn’t that smart either. By the time I moved around in the restaurant and got seated, I was whipped! I didn’t dare complain outwardly because I was so thrilled to get my needed craft supplies plus Ronald had been such a trooper. I started to inwardly complain but then a man in walking shorts went by – with one artificial leg – and a big smile. Stopped my unthankful spirit mid-moan!

During my recovery, I haven’t been able to do my regular chores. Though Ronald is doing a good job, it is frustrating to see something across the room and not be able to quickly go pick it up. Despite my inability to move around much, I still have my spilling tendencies – but this time without the ability to clean up my messes. Sigh.

But as I watch the devastation caused by the hurricane, I am thinking a little spilled water or a dropped piece of paper is no big deal. I still have a floor, a vacuum, a mop, and a roof over my head.

So you see?

I have a bajillion reasons to celebrate!

Think of your own blessings and celebrate this day with me!

Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

1 Corinthians 10:31  So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.

Philippians 4:4. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice!

Blessings

Kara Beth
