Crazy Weird!

Wanna see something crazy?

I was sewing a blouse today and had a scrap of material I was going to take to the store to find a coordinating fabric. As I enjoyed the feel and colors of the material and got ready to go, I was startled to see a familiar pattern!

In February, Ronald had heart blockage removed and three stents inserted. First of all, the technology involved in that was awesome – some sort of sound wave technique to clear the veins or arteries – or whatever they are! I’m afraid I don’t know the difference. All I know is he was plugged up. We had great care through the Piedmont system, and we were most thankful.

One thing I love about doctors there is they take time to explain, draw pictures, and even duplicate images like the one above so the patient and the family can see what was done. I thought the pictures were pretty telling, so I kept the before and afters.

I was showing Ronald what I hoped to find on my Walmart run when I realized I had seen this basic shape before. I grabbed the hospital paperwork from the backroom and brought it in for Ronald to see.

Though my fabric was much prettier than the dull tones of the paper and certainly less bloody than the actual operation, the pattern was so similar it was eerie. And fun!

Do you ever look at patterns in nature? God has such an imagination!

But it is extremely interesting – even for me, the science illiterate – to watch for repeated signs in nature. I LOVE nautilus shells! Apparently, there are mathematical things called fractals involved in their shapes. Again, I don’t have a clue, but the shapes are very pleasing to me.

They say the hexagon is the most commonly occurring shape in nature. Beehives, snowflakes, insect eyes, and salt crystals are a few things built on that structure.

Concentric circles appear in everything from tree stumps to onions.

Petals on flowers are measured by Fibonacci sequences – way too much math for this word nerd, but it shows pattern and design by our Great Creator God. (And this word nerd loves the sound of Fibonacci!)

You’ve got to look up some pictures of these natural occurring  shapes in nature – Fascinating!!! I’m always hesitant to post someone else’s pictures, so you’ll have to look for yourself.

I think most people are like I am. I hurry through life without taking time to really ‘see’ things. I’ve often blogged about God being in the details of my life. And it’s true.

But He is still in the details of His creation. He didn’t just order the world into being and say nature was on its own. He continues to create and allow creation to procreate to bless the world He gave to man.

Maybe you will join me as I take a little ‘praise break’ and enjoy God’s handiwork.

Psalm 104 talks of God and His creation. Verse 24 – ‘O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom have You made them all.’ Verse 31 – ‘May the glory of the Lord endure forever; may the Lord rejoice in His works.’ Verses 33 and 34 -I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.’ And finally, verse 34. ‘May my meditation be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the Lord.’

Blessings
