FUN! FUN! AND DOUBLE FUN!

It’s been a crazy, WONDERFUL two weeks.

I am so thankful for the pseudo Grammie Camp we were able to experience with some of the grandkids. My two youngest daughters led most of the activities and because they are very energetic, the kids had a great time competing in relays, water fights, timed challenges, board games,

Wiffle ball,

and going to Alpharetta Skate Center, img_5904.  I don’t know how to make the video work except to click on it. Pretty funny.

There was a trip to the Yellow River Wildlife Center. The best picture was a video of my daughters, but I would lose my life if I posted it.

Of course, going out to eat was included at every opportunity.

One of our favorite pictures was the kids walking down the street in an area called Avalon.

And just hanging out.

The smiles say it all.

Last week, I had some added fun as I got to play dress up and do some costuming for Vacation Bible School. I even conned Ronald into playing along. We had the costumes from our cruising, so why not use them?

Of course, everyone probably thought we were pretty goofy, but hey! It was fun!

Because the overall theme of the Bible school was Scuba, Diving into the Blessings of God, we were set to go! The first night Ronald and I were decked out in our pirate outfits.

He had a lot of fun telling pirate jokes and teasing with the kids (even the big ones) as he helped serve food during the week.

I worked in the preschool crafts class. It was full of the most precious little ones! The first night’s theme was God is real. When the kids entered, I introduced the craft leaders to the children. Because my name is so unusual and is often mispronounced by the little ones, I’ve always been Grammie when I teach children at Northridge.

I asked them what did they think I was. They said a pirate. I said, ‘Do you think I’m a real pirate?’ Of course, they said no. I said God is real.

The next day, I had a blast making a new fascinator for mermaid/sailor night.

When the same little boy asked what I was, I said a mermaid. He frowned and asked, ‘A real one?’ ‘No,’ says I, ‘I’m just pretending.’

The third day’s theme was group color. I thought it was red because that’s what color the schedule was printed in. The color was orange but I didn’t know until I got there. I don’t have any orange clothing anyway. I only have blue or green things in my closet except my Lieutenant Commander Uhura shirt from Star Trek.

So when my little guy entered and asked who I was, I told him I was a space traveler. ‘A real one?’ ‘No. I’m pretending.’

The last night was tropical night and my outfit was more subtle – just a long dress with light-up leis and a flower in my hair. ‘What are you tonight?’ ‘I’m a Grammie.’ ‘A real Grammie?’ ‘You bet your life, I’m a real Grammie.’

My heart thrilled as several of the little ones through the week called me ‘Grammie.’ I will gladly claim every little one as my own…my prayers for them will continue…may they truly be part of my extended family within the Kingdom of God. And I am NOT PRETENDING on that one!

Isaiah 54:13 ESV  All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

May it be so. I’m claiming that promise for all those little ones and every big one the Lord has laid on my heart to pray for.

Blessings
