It’s All in the Details
Ronald and I have been doing puzzles like a couple of old people! Then again, I guess we are. We have graduated from the 300 piece, to the 500 piece, and are up to 1000 piece puzzles. It takes us days to finish, but like I said, we’re old – we’re slow, too lazy to be doing something really constructive, and it’s fun. And low energy after heart therapy and swimming. All’s good.
As we concentrate on and enjoy the variety of details, he looks to match colors, I often look for shapes. There are amazing artists out there who use their talents and imagination in beautiful ways for others to enjoy. Yes, consider me totally jealous!
U-turn.
Spring has sprung in the middle of nowhere Georgia – and I love it. I wish the wisteria would last longer, but God hasn’t put me in charge of blooming seasons. Azaleas have been outstanding this last few weeks. Snowball and smoke trees have out done themselves.
Even the weeds down here are gorgeous! As my friend and I walk every day, we notice what little flowers are popping up, disregarded by those that haven’t mowed lately. I’m not sure who labeled one plant a weed and another a legitimate plant. It’s amazing the perfection and detail God puts in even the smallest little flowering weed! I love it.
There are dandelions swaying in the wind today. I couldn’t help but bend down to pick a few. No one can tell me this is not an absolutely beautifully intricate flower!

Then there are petals from a tree I can’t label. But look at the design. And the shine! Why does God put such lovely patterns into something that is here today and wind blown to the ground on the next day?

U-turn.
So if man can draw something magnificent from his imagination for others to enjoy, and nature displays an even more amazing beauty for those who care to be observant, what does that say about us? What does that say about God’s thoughts on creativity?
Psalm 139 says of God’s creations, ‘Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.’
Colossians 1 says, ‘For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible…all things were created through Him and for Him.’
But why does God bother? Ephesians 2 gives one answer. ‘For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.’
Just like it’s fun to observe and think about the details God created all around us, I like to think about how wonderful it is that God made me specifically, with forethought and planning, with a purpose. Let’s praise God for His intentional creation of humans and the world around us.
Blessings
Kara Beth
