Hospital Artisté

They call the doctors who work exclusively at the hospital ‘hospitalists’ – or something like that. Since my artwork this weekend was entirely composed of materials I had at the hospital during an isolated time period, I am officially a ‘Hospital Artisté.’ That being said, I will explain that this was a ‘once and done’ attempt to cram as much trash as I could into a cup – an act born totally out of boredom!!!

It worked until I tried to add the banana peel to the sculpture and the whole mess fell on the blanket at my feet. Oh, well. Even the Winged Victory of Samothrace ended up in jumbles.

I finally got out of the hospital. I guess I have low potassium, and perhaps had a ‘vertigo event.’

Vertigo, schmertigo! I’m totally over it all!

Except I have to tell you a neat story about the ordeal that I hope will thrill the hearts of believers.

Saturday as my event began in Thomaston, Missy, who lives in Alpharetta, was taking a drum set from her car. She felt she needed to call her daddy that very minute – which she did. Ronald had just taken his phone out to call 911, answered Missy first, and explained the situation. She hung up and immediately called Stephanie and Mark who ‘just happened’ to be on the road from Macon. They headed immediately for the ER and were there as soon as the ambulance drove me in. They were there for both emotional support and medical oversight during the entire process. Ronald and I were so thankful. It is a story we will pass on to encourage others to listen to the voice of God.

The Bible talks often about God’s guidance and provision. Sometimes, an angel of God appeared like happened with Philip being sent to witness to the Ethiopian. Other times, the Bible says God spoke to someone as He did with Noah. Sometimes, God speaks through visions like He did when Ananias was to minister to Paul. Peter and Cornelius had visions from God to contact the other to bring about belief in Jesus in that area of Caesarea. In Matthew, the Bible speaks of Joseph having a dream that warned him and his little family to flee for safety’s sake.

I couldn’t list all the wonderful stories that show God’s care for His people. Look them up for yourself – and remember – God hasn’t changed. He still speaks today!

The key to each instance was people listening to God’s urgings and obeying. Because of God’s sovereignty, we can trust His Spirit to guide us in our daily walk. I truly believe God cares about the little things that affect us. Proverbs 3:4-6 in the NLT is a life verse for every day. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.’

Be blessed my friends.
