Twenty Guesses

You have 20 guesses as to where this sign is displayed…or you could read the blog. Here are a few hints.

The last 36 hours’ activities were NOT on my to-do list.

The place was definitely NOT on my bucket list of sites to visit in Thomaston.

The activities were NOT intentionally planned or desired in any way shape or form!

And yes, this is the direction the sign faced from my standpoint. A complete 180 would be necessary to read it correctly. If making the warning upside down was intended to be an attention getter, the owners of the place got their point across.

Guessed it yet?

Yep, I’ve been in the hospital. This is what I’ve been looking at from my hospital bed. Apparently, a person is to call for help before going anywhere, especially somewhere super necessary if you know what I mean!

Funny thing is, I am hooked up to so many machines it is impossible to go much of anywhere, much less somewhere I need to go.

Ugh! Before I get home, I will have a whole set of new bruised places where they drew blood for their pet vampires. But I’m not really afraid of vampires anymore. Since my last hospital stay, I learned how to defeat them from a series of books my grandson, Wes, suggested I read – if I can remember the method the main character used. But then again, I might be confusing the technique for vampire slaying verses the weapons Harry used for defeating wicked Fairie queens.

Or I could attack by using the ninja kicks another grandson, Gideon, showed me.

Right. As if I could get my foot that high!

Oh, well. Either way, I’ll figure it out before the vampires come slinking down the hall.

This last, unplanned stint is better than before. So far, I have avoided a ‘slice and dice’.

And at least this time, Ronald went home for a few minutes to bring back warm pj’s so I haven’t had to wear the hospital’s standard costume. It’s bad enough one’s dignity is assaulted as stickers are stuck all over one’s chest. Then there’s the goo rubbed all over the places they are investigating. Slimy! But the truth is, I lost all modesty during my last two hospital stays. But I still want my warm jammies instead of a split tail gown!

As I’ve said in other blogs, the extent of my medical advice is – if it isn’t broken or bleeding, stop crying, and have a cookie. I am thankful for those who have chosen to care for those of us whose old bodies are falling apart at the seams. I’m thankful for the dedication of all who work in this environment. It’s not easy, and I do pray daily for the people in all walks of medicine who have impacted my life.

I have a pen I accidentally took home from a doctor’s office with the practice name imprinted on it. Like other things around my house, it is a reminder to pray – Ephesians 1:16 ESV – ‘I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.’

As usual, I am taking Scripture out of context, but I think the Lord will forgive me in this case. Ruth 2;12 ESV contains a blessing I wish to pass along to those who have cared for me. ‘The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord.’

Blessings

Kara Beth

PS – Don’t know yet what caused extreme dizziness and sickness. Please say a prayer for me if you have one handy.
