One of Those Days!

ARGH!

Today was NOT my day.

I had a full page of items on my To-Do List. Ronald helped me complete several items on the list before lunch. S-U-C-C-E-S-S!

Ah, then.

Before Mama’s passing, I got two Christmas vignettes started and have been enjoying the lights, especially each night since it is getting dark so early. I decided this afternoon I would put aside some of my To-Do List and finish it another day. I was going to treat myself to a decorating session.

Oh, brother!

I never put decorations up the same way. Creativity = my happy place. Usually.

Last year I was still laid up after Christmas when Ronald decided he was tired of having Christmas decorations adorning the living room. Bless his heart! Since I always start decorating in September and it was late January, I didn’t throw a fit when he started shoving my beautifully glittery items harum-scarum into tubs. I usually sort all the greenery, lights, balls, and other decorations and place them carefully in plastic bags at the end of the season so everything is ready for the next fall.

As I found some of the items crammed at the bottom of a tub, I pulled them out and hoped no one would notice all the missing glittery discs that plummeted to the floor. I swept up those and tossed them. Then one of the trees fell from its lofty perch and lost more of its decoration. As I tried to wind greenery around the bases, one of the balls that was still attached from last year fell onto the hard tile floor and shattered. I cleaned up that mess and rearranged the lights and greenery. Another tree fell. I gave up on today’s creative session.

I picked up several things to take to the base of operations in the backroom. I somehow miscalculated the angle at which I was going through the doorway, smashed my hand, hit my shoulder against the door jamb, and jerked my back out of whack. Bull in a china closet as Mama always called me. Somethings never change. Sigh.

So –

I did a little more laundry, am sitting with a heating pad on pulled muscles, and writing another silly blog … and thinking.

How much of each day’s To-Do List is worthless, foolish, or unnecessary? I DO NOT even want to think about that, much less write it down!

This one thing I do know. Loving and serving others are things God always wants on my To-Do List after the most important thing – loving the Lord with all my heart, soul, and mind.

Psalm 102:2 ‘Serve the Lord with gladness. Come into His presence with singing!

A good way to end my day for sure!

Blessings

Interesting but useless info – harum-scarum is a phrase from the 1570s.
