Celebrate Exercise? Say What?

Six months to the day since my last slice and dice!

Six more months until I will supposedly be back to good. But I think I will be even better.

When the physical therapist said she wanted me walking over a mile a day, I thought she was smokin’ crack! Not really. She’s a good girl. But I thought it was a ridiculously impossible goal. I bought me this fancy dan watch that tracks my steps.

Lo and behold! On a busy day around the house, I walk close to a mile! Who would have thought that?!! By the time I take a spin or two around the school at the end of the block, I sometimes walk nearly three miles a day. Crazy.

I also got me a torture table. You know one of those like at therapy? The one she makes you do bridges and planks on while you moan and groan? Mercy!

I hope I will be better in six months because I am not only working harder but hopefully smarter.

Though after today’s few minutes at the pool, I am rethinking that exercise and how and when to say ENOUGH! My problem there is because the exercises are relatively easy, I tend to do too many reps for too long a time.

But double ding dang! I keep figuring if I am going to go to all the trouble of driving to and from the pool and dressing and redressing for the exercise, I may as well get my money’s worth! If I work out for a healthy length of time, I spend more time going there, prepping for the exercise, and going home than I am doing the actual exercise. That doesn’t even make sense! If I exercise a good length of time, I go home and sit with ice packs for the next hour or two! Ugh!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, exercise bothers my body!

HOWEVER!!!

Let me say this, exercise makes me a whole lot happier than sitting on my behind and not being able to get up and about! I am most thankful for the ability to move about at will.

So

I am celebrating life and movement today!

Rejoice with me. Have a cookie or something! Do a dance of joy! Have a silly giggle on me!

Blessings

Kara Beth
