Old School

I’m doing a lot of purging things lately. I hate throwing stuff away, but I just don’t need this much!

This morning I went through old CDs. Bless my heart! Sometimes, I guess I’m older than I thought. One place I offered them to had no room for CDs, another didn’t have a CD player, and a third wanted the classical CDs but didn’t know who Josh Groban was. Sigh.

It’s crazy how technology has sped up and changed the way we live. Or maybe it is I who am crazy! Old for sure. Sigh.

I’m thinking about having an open house and saying,”Come and get it!” Or maybe I’ll just shut the door to the back room and call it a day on the project.

One person’s treasure is another person’s trash. In my case, my treasures have become fodder for my Swedish Death Purge. Though I’m probably not heading that direction any way soon, I’ll get there eventually. And it’s a cooler term than ‘getting ready for a garage sale.’ Plus I  don’t do garage sales. Too much work for the quarter I would earn!

Anyway. I’m thinking of posting pictures of things I want to get rid of – all for free. But that takes energy as well, and I am tapped out for today.

The one set of CDs I have that I would really like to gift is the CDs that are patriotic. There are a number of accompaniment CDs from a program I led back in the day. Never out of date. Unless you don’t have a CD player.

Matthew 6:19-21 TLB “Don’t store up treasures here on earth where they can erode away or may be stolen.  Store them in heaven where they will never lose their value and are safe from thieves. If your profits are in heaven, your heart will be there too.”

Ecclesiastes 3 talks about times and seasons. Verse 6 says there is ‘a time to find’ which is funny for me. I am finding all sorts of things as I clean closets – even gifts I meant to give a long time ago! ‘A time to lose’ is my motto. I get many of my steps every single day looking for things I forgot where I put. ‘A time for keeping’ is passing, and I am at the ‘time for throwing away’ stage.

Luke 12 has Jesus mentioning this: ‘One’s life doesn’t consist in the abundance of his possessions.’

Hopefully at this stage of the game, I am concentrating on the things that really matter.

Once I get through with this dern purging anyway!

Blessings
