Major Award!

I won a major award, and it wasn’t even FRAGILE!

I have never won a prize in my life that I can remember. Ever.

We went to a festival a few weeks ago at Dickey Farms. There were hundreds if not a thousand people there in the unincorporated  community whose population is usually 104. Ronald bought me some wonderfully flashy earrings and bracelet from Impulsive Chainworks. You may remember another blog where I wrote about speaking with the cancer booth personnel. The lady there encouraged me to sign up for the raffle. I did but knowing my luck, I knew it was useless.

Hah! Surprise! I won!

I couldn’t make up my mind when I arrived. Each vendor at the fair had donated some items from the booth for the raffle. Ronald, being the shopper he usually is, helped by making up my mind for me. He selected a beautifully handcrafted, wooden flag.

All the way home, I was figuring I could hang it by the front door. Nope. Too big. Even several of the spaces on my walls were too narrow. I have decided to move around the grandkids’ artwork in the hallway so I will see it several times daily.

It will be like the rest of my art and trinkets. It will be a prayer reminder. The man who made the flag, Roger Hawke, is a disabled vet. He spent a career with the military then worked in law enforcement. As the flag comes into view, I will remember to pray for our military and police forces past and present.

I am not particularly proud of the direction our country is going – to hell in a hand basket I always say. But I can still pray God will intervene, and this special flag will remind me that miracles do happen!

This is my prayer for America from 2 Chronicles 7:14  from the Living Bible. These are words  expressing God’s desire. “If My people will humble themselves and pray, and search for Me, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.”

May it be so.

Blessings

Kara Beth
