Exercise
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again! Exercise bothers my body!
After overdoing exercise which caused hip tendon and muscle tears, I had surgery. It’s been a long process, but the Lord has helped me recover despite my complaining.
When the physical therapist said she wanted me walking 2 or so miles a day, I thought she was smokin’ crack! And here I am, walkin’ my fool legs off! Rain or shine, I’m out there huffin’ and puffin’ like some old lady! Oh yeah. I am that, so I guess huffin’ and puffin’ is legitimate.
The only bright spot as I walk is I have several songs on my phone that give me encouragement. “His strength is perfect when my strength is gone” by Steven Curtis Chapman is my theme song these days.
The other favorite is a classic that I played before surgery and play several times each time I walk -“It Is Well With My Soul.”
Though my soul is far from perfect, I hope it’s a sight better than my body! I know, what a complainer. Sorry.
Yet…
Sometimes, don’t I get tired of struggling to overcome a weakness of my own doing? Despite everything, don’t I still throw good intentions to the curb and do what I want instead of walk in God’s truth and expectations?
Or maybe you don’t struggle physically or spiritually. Bless your heart! Then say some prayers for me!
I don’t know if these verses are appropriate, but they spoke to me. I get the first part of 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, “But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” The next part, well, it’s a struggle. “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” I guess I need to start thanking God more and complaining less! OOOPS!
I hope 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 helps me address my spiritual weaknesses. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Blessings
