Monday Wonderings

There are so many things that make no sense to me.

Math.

Science.

Why muscles keep getting sorer instead of stronger.

I am not going to even wonder why the world is going to hell in a handbasket. I have that one figured!

Why there are new, fancy roads in our town that lead nowhere. Why a supposed shortcut leads to a one-way street when there is a perfectly good road with an intersection where you can turn either way less than a half mile down. Why the powers that be lined the middle of our roads with medians which block vehicles from turning into businesses. It’s not like we have heavy traffic!

Why tiny little gnats in my plants are impervious to bug spray. Why they like to fly up my nose or try to get in between the keys of my computer.

Why and how dryer balls get into my britches’ legs or wrapped up in the cuff of my fitted sheets is beyond me.

I’ve always quoted the Robert Louis Stevenson quote, ‘The world is so full of a number of things, I’m sure we should all be as happy as kings.”

The older I get, the more flummoxed I get by the myriad of things I don’t understand. I won’t even get into my confusion with technology!

Like many old sayings, some are just not true! I heard the phrase, ‘Older and wiser’ all my life. That was the goal. Somewhere along the line, I guess I missed the memo of how to get that done! In my seventies and still as clueless as ever!

And what is it with gray headed, old fat men and Corvettes and other, fancy little cars? The BeachBoys would have shaken their heads in disbelief!

And why would anyone who buys an awesome, big ol’ Jeep put flowers all over the back windows? That ruins the cool look in my book!

Another thing I wonder is who in the world thought of combining okra and tomatoes in the same dish? Though many people around here love it – including Mama and Ronald – to me it is just plain gross! Yuck!

And the greatest wonder to me is how in the world does God put up with me? He must have great patience and an over the top sense of humor! Or maybe, He loves me. Yep. That’s it.

Ephesians 3:12 is an awesome thinking point. “ Now we can come fearlessly right into God’s presence, assured of his glad welcome when we come with Christ and trust in Him.” TLB

I’m nowhere near Paul’s level of thinking, but I like this part of Ephesians 3 as well and pray this for anyone who might read my blogs.

“When I think of the wisdom and scope of His plan, I fall down on my knees and pray to the Father of all the great family of God that out of His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you the mighty inner strengthening of His Holy Spirit. And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high His love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself. TLB

That is Truth, my friends.

Blessings

Kara Beth
