Say What?

I am clearing the air for all who don’t know. I am a doofus, and I’m not afraid to share it!

Sometimes I do things that are super crazy, but dang it! This is just too funny to not share! And everyone needs a laugh!

I can always find something so I can laugh at myself. That’s much better than remembering the stupid and embarrassing stuff I’ve done through the years.

This morning I had to get up at the crack of the crack to go to physical torture, I mean therapy. I made sure I had on deodorant, proper foundational undergarments, appropriate clothing, curled hair, makeup, rings, and earrings. I was all set and headed for the breakfast table.

Something felt funny. There was something in my ear to keep me from hearing quite right. Lo and behold, I had gotten distracted somewhere along the way. I may have been thinking about my aggravation that Illinois Teacher’s Retirement System changed our health insurance. It may have been from being in a snit because of the earliness of therapy or because a representative of the new insurance was coming to the house to ask all those silly questions. Whatever it was, (and I pray it’s not dementia!) I was walking around with a Q-Tip sticking out of my ear!

Is that funny, or what!?!

I’d like to say that’s the only odd thing I’ve done, but I remember going to a wedding with clippies in my hair. Recently, a velcro roller stuck to my coat was kindly brought to my attention as I registered at a doctor’s office. Occasionally, my sweater or blouse will get caught in my waistband or is hiked up onto my more than adequate backside. Ronald is kind enough to give this sister a head’s up before I head out the door.

For all my silliness, foolishness, or whatever you want to call it, I am smarter than I look or act.

Why, you ask?

Because I know the Truth of God’s Word. The New Living Translation version of Proverbs starts out this way.

“These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel. Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young. Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles. Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Studying the Word and drawing closer to God won’t keep you from doing stupid stuff, but it sure will help you deal with what comes your way!

Blessings

Kara Beth
