All the Queen’s Hats!
Through the years I have envied Queen Elizabeth’s wonderful hats. Some were not my style, but ding dang! I would love one of those big brimmed hats in some outrageous color with a big ol’ bow and some flowers. Can you imagine how fun it would be to wear something like that?
I was telling Tep, Mark, and Jocelyn about my love of hats. Mark said, ‘But you never wear a hat! I didn’t think you even liked them.”
I explained. Though my head would love to be a Queen Elizabeth clone, my love for old school, boho chic on the rest of my body would be a fashion statement no one could handle! In the meantime, I settle for sporting the old lady frumpy vibe.
But wouldn’t it be cool if someone had a traveling exhibit of all Queen Elizabeth’s hats? Neat idea, but I guess that’s what google is for.
Since the Georgia Hudds have celebrated Halloween together, dressed up, and gone to a restaurant the last few years, wouldn’t it be fun if we dressed as royalty through the ages? It’s an idea worth considering.
I never envied anything about being a Royal but Elizabeth’s hats, but I wouldn’t mind dressing up in old style dresses from back in the day – like the 1100s through the 1600s. Better yet, wouldn’t it be fun to dress as Knights during the Crusades? I love those capes and tunics. My youngest grandson would love the swords. None of us would be safe or would any restaurant be in one piece after Sir Dylan stood his ground!
I know. Another silly post. I’m not letting Ronald read this one for fear he’ll tell me it is cornier than the one he put the kibosh on last week!
But as I was thinking about ‘the royal family’, I realized that as believers we are children of the King of Kings. We may wear weird or ragged in this life but in the life to come, we will be clothed in garments fit for heaven. In the meantime, here are some interesting verses to think on.
Our earthly marching attire is very clearly defined. There is no cool cape, but it is a really good look!
Colossians 3:12, 14-15 TLB. Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
Our ‘spiritual’ fashion statement would be interesting to see, wouldn’t it?
Isaiah 61:10 NLT. I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For He has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels. The Sovereign Lord will show His justice to the nations of the world. Everyone will praise Him!
Finally. We may not wear fancy hats or crowns in this life, but you’ve got to read this!
2 Timothy 4:8 NLT. And now the prize awaits me – the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of His return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to His appearing.

Who needs a queen when I’ve got my very own princesses?
