Herding Cats
I love pictures. I take a billion pics of my family at every opportunity. With my fancy-dan camera on my phone, the pictures are easily cropped and adjusted.
Still.
There is a slight problem.
Sometimes I feel like a Great Pyranees or a border collie. Even if there is only one child to photograph, getting them in the right pose with the perfect expression is a study in patience. My kids say, ‘Mom, take the dern picture and call it even.’
Or I just keep taking pictures and hope one turns out. Or I just say, ‘How precious!’ and end up keeping the lot of them!
The other problem that even I have when someone takes my picture is, where in the world am I supposed to look? At the phone itself, or that little circle on the back, or at the person who is taking the picture? I do not know. Missy was trying to take my picture with her two kids. Finally, she had to yell at me to pay attention to the camera. Oh, brother. When that happens, it’s all downhill after that. I get the giggles or the guffaws, and all is lost.
One funny bunny amidst the cats makes herding quite impossible. But like I said before – ‘Precious’.

I wonder if God ever thinks of me that way as He tries to get my attention to focus on His will. I’m like a kitten who swats at one toy, then a fly catches its attention, and off he goes. Being a creative person does have some drawbacks when I try to dwell on one sequence in a story. My mind suddenly comes up with an entirely new storyline with a different cast of characters. Or I start thinking about studying some topic to enhance the old story or the new.
But at this point in my life, I am focusing more and more on telling others how much Jesus loves them. In the end, a soul won to Christ is the most precious thing in this life and the next.
John 1:12 says, But to all who receive Jesus, He gives the right to become children of God. All we need to do is trust Him to save us from the consequences of our sins. 1 John 1:9 tells us if we confess our sins to Jesus, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. This is my hope for all who don’t have the peace that God can give. Please focus on these truths and allow God to speak to you today.
Blessings,
KB
P.S. I asked my Amanda who lives in Louisville to send any pictures that she took today – thinking they must have taken pictures in their Easter clothes. Obviously she and Silas didn’t get the gist of my blog. Or maybe they did!
