Be Ye Kind
This sign was on the door of the Waffle House where we stopped for breakfast. It saddened me more than I can express.
To have to post a sign to remind people to be kind! For goodness sake! Our society has devolved into a chronic mindset of bullying, entitlement, meanness, and downright hatefulness. Only God’s influence can change the hearts and minds of wicked people who want to abuse others.
I have great respect for anyone who works in food services. Being a cook of less than adequate skills, there are several reasons for me to personally thank them.
I can’t even remember what I went from the stove to the refrigerator for much less remember what waitstaff is asking for. How short order cooks manage to get everything out at the same time on one order amazes me, much less tables and tables of orders! Totally mind-boggling!
Then there’s the pouring drinks!
I make my tea every morning in a coffee maker. EVERY time I try to pour from the coffee pot into the tea pitcher, I spill. I have learned to set the pitcher in the sink so the dark liquid ends up only in the sink, not all over the counter and the floor. Even pouring from a tea pitcher to a glass usually ends up in a wee bit of spillage.
Finally, there is the customer service issue.
Bless my heart! There is no way on God’s green earth I could put up with the crazy old ladies, ill-behaved children, cheap tippers, or impatient men who are interested only in their agenda!
In some fancier restaurants, we have seen instances of people complaining about the meal just to get free food. JERKS! If you want food cooked to your specifications, take your nasty tail home and cook the meal your own, sweet self!
So, why can’t people be kind? (Kinda funny after my last paragraph, right?)
The Bible says on of the attributes of God is kindness. “For His merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth forever. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 117:2 KJV
He expects His people to follow His example. “Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32 KJV
Can people really be kind without God in their lives?
My solution for the lack of kindness and every other wickedness in the world is for people to have a sincere Come-to-Jesus meeting! I’m praying like Grandpa Griswold and Pastor Turner used to for the world to experience a Holy Ghost Revival! There is no other solution to the world’s downhill slide!
But on the other hand, I am also praying, “Maranatha!” Come, oh Lord!
Blessings
