Things I Messed Up

I am supposed to be writing this month about sayings I said and things I taught my daughters. Today I realized again why I concentrated on teaching them the ABC’s instead of the 1,2,3s.

Bless my heart! My Daddy Newt would tell about a little boy who responded to the scolding from his teacher about a spelling paper. “Well, teacher. I can ‘nounce perty good, but I can’t spell worth a dern!” In my case, it would be, “I can spell perty good, but I can’t add worth a dern!”

When Ronald and I play cards or greedy, he always keeps score. I would do it correctly but not in my head like he does. He has always offered his hands when I am trying to count things on my fingers. In my defense, God did make fingers before He made calculators! I always teased that I am a musician. Everyone knows we only have to count to 16 or so.

I have been challenging myself for months to get 7 of my novels online by my 70th birthday. Last night, the Lord helped me learn a new program to make the final book covers which I tweaked this morning.

Lo and behold! Imagine my shock when I listed 8 not 7! There’s nothing to do but laugh.

Sure hope my books are better than my counting!

Surprise – Object lesson time! One thing I count pretty accurately but not ever enough – my blessings!

Psalm 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. KJV

Psalm 116:2 What can I offer the Lord for all He has done for me? I will lift my praise to the Lord’s name for saving me. KBT
