The Great Cure All!

I am not medically minded in any way, shape, or form. This blog is not to be construed as medical advice. I’m just following my ‘Words of Wisdom’ blog of the day routine this month. My girls still laugh at my famous prescription.

Whenever my girls would complain about not feeling well, whether it was a toothache or a sore toe, my question was always

Have you gone potty today?

It probably didn’t cure any of them of anything, but getting rid of the body’s garbage is always a good choice.

Which brings me of course to the object lesson of the day!

How many times in life do we hold onto hurts, slights, and perceived mistreatment? We fume long after the other person has moved on. The reality is, the person probably didn’t even know he had offended!

How often do we worry about things that 99% of the time will never occur?

We fret, fume, and fight against doing what we know is right instead of ridding ourselves of needless angst. We lose sleep, fuss in our spirit or with others, and make ourselves miserable just because we refuse to get rid of thoughts that poison our system.

Yep. We need to flush everything like that out!

How?

Romans 13:14 says to ask the Lord to help you live as you should and don’t make plans to enjoy evil.

Galatians 5 has much good advice. “Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature desires. Those who belong to Christ have nailed the passions and desires of sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” NLT

In Ephesians 4 Paul begged his readers to “lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” He goes on to say believers are gifted to become mature in the Lord to measure up to Christ’s standards. We should be full of love and let the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes.” And finally, Paul lists some things we need to flush our of our lives. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.” NLT

The last of that chapter has wonderful words for a truly healthy life. “Instead. Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

Blessings
