Why the Celebrate Life Party?
For those readers who are new to my blog or the intermittent readers who have been wondering, here’s the backstory for our Celebrate Life parties.
Part of the reason was to satisfy my need to thumb my nose at the government’s social distancing policies!
But that wasn’t the main reason for the first party. The main reason was to take time to thank God for His blessings.
The blessings of last year were abundant.
In March 2020, I had double knee replacement by Dr. Brcka whose skill gave me a proverbial new lease on life. However, during the recovery process, I overdid the physical therapy in the hospital and ended up with blood clots in my lungs and some sort of heart problems. The Piedmont staff took great care of me, and I am ever grateful for their patience and kindness! Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehab people were nice as well as were the various home health personnel and physical therapists at URMC who helped me get better.
At the follow-up with the heart doctor, Dr. Mitchell ran a stress test. The troubling results ended up with me having a heart catheterization. Thank the Lord and Dr. Mitchell, my heart was fine.
The growth on what’s left of my thyroid had not grown in the past year, and Dr. Winger said the lumps in my neck were scar tissue. I didn’t need another slice and dice! How great is that?
I mention these guys by name because I brag on them all like they were my kids! I am so thankful for every last one of them, their nurses, and their other staff who took such good care of me! They deserve the ‘atta boys’ and prayers I say for them all.
As if that weren’t enough to be thankful for, we were blessed by Dr. Kongoasa who helped our youngest daughter get her body regulated. Soon, the cupcake reveal party showed she was carrying a little girl. Despite early ultrasounds that showed some anomalies, we were blessed in 2021 with our perfectly healthy little bundle of joy, Josie.
Throughout last year and this, the Lord has blessed our family. Our kids had steady jobs, the grandkids remained healthy and did well in school. Even in Mommy School, Dylan is learning and growing by leaps and bounds. Ronald has stayed healthy, and his cancer screenings keep coming back clear. Dr. Jignesh Gandhi and his staff provided some pain relief for me. Southern Grace is now working with Dr. Brcka to keep Mom’s pain within comfortable bounds. Tep has found some relief for her extreme chronic pain. I guess you could say our family is a real pain!
Ronald and I celebrated our 50th this June. Talk about celebrating a miracle! In all those years, never once did I think about pinching his head off! Well, not often anyway. (Though I did threaten to kick him in the backside more than a time or two!)
Then there are the thanks for our wonderful families and friends who always have our backs in times of need and share in our rejoicing during the good times.
So people, help us celebrate! If you are not within Huddleston partying distance, join us in celebrating long distance. Make your own Celebrate Life Party! Post some pictures on my FB page, and we will rejoice with you!
The Lord God is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. With joy, I drink deeply from the fountain of salvation! In that wonderful day I will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise His name! Tell the nations what He has done. Let them know how mighty He is! Sing to the Lord, for He has done wonderful things. Make known His praise around the world. Isaiah 12:2-5 KB translation
