Celebrate Life with Giggles

I love that thing on the phone where I talk and it sends a message to someone without me having to type with these old, fat fingers. But seriously! I need the silly thing to interpret Red Neck Speech!

I was in a hurry today and wanted to get back to a friend with whom I had been playing phone tag. I pushed the speech button or whatever it’s called and sent a quick message without reading it. After I had been swimming, I checked to see if she had texted me back. I laughed out loud when I saw what the phone had interpreted my message to be. “I’ll be back in an hour and a half. I’ve got tomato myself go exercise today.” The text set a great stage for the fun my friend and I had as we laughed and giggled our way through the conversation.

My son-in-law, Mark, texted a site that had several Dad jokes. It took me three readings to get the first joke.

“I love telling Dad jokes. Sometimes he laughs.”

I was always the dumb blonde who laughed at jokes and then whispered to someone, “What did that mean?” Since I can remember, I have been the worst joke teller on earth. No way could I ever be a stand-up comedienne!

Now however, I am the Queen of Joke Telling! My family laughs hysterically when I ask if they want to hear a joke, and I don’t even have to tell it! Of course, I only learned two this year that I can tell without messing them up. My kids and grandkids yell the punch line of each one before I get to the first word. Since I always tell the same two jokes in the same order, they holler out “Anti-bodies” and “They’re always stuffed!” Wanna hear the rest of the jokes? Maybe later. And maybe the laughs at this point are really more like eye rolls with groans. My new year’s resolution is to learn two more jokes for the next year to surprise them!

For our 50th anniversary this year, we were gifted with a photo frame that flashes pictures all day long. Nearly all of the pictures on the frame make me smile. Pretty much every day, Ronald and I have a good laugh or get the giggles about something.

There are plenty of things in the world to moan and groan about. I challenge us all to find something each day that is delightful or funny. Celebrate life with a giggle or two every day. Even a smile will do. Find joy!

“A cheerful heart is good medicine.” Proverbs 17:22

Take a dose or two daily!

Blessings
