That Says It All

My sewing project got sidetracked again today. First thing this morning Ronald asked, “Where do you want me to put the Christmas decorations?”

Well, I tell you what! When he’s willing to haul boxes and bags from the storage unit and garage, believe me, I don’t pass up the help! And it is less than a month to my Celebrate Life Party, so I need to be prepared. Decorating this early allows me to concentrate on things I need to do for that event – not cooking of course – but lots of planning, rearranging furniture, fall cleaning, etc. My excuse for decorating now is that my multitasking skills have been waning as I age, and I need more time to do things.

Who am I kidding? I’ve always put up Christmas decorations early! If Hobby Lobby and Walmart can start putting stuff out before Labor Day, I can put stuff up well before Halloween!

But I had several problems with the decorations. I didn’t break anything  – yet, and some of the things I couldn’t find. I’ll need to have Ronald look through more boxes. Or maybe I got rid of a bunch of stuff from last year. I can’t remember.

Maybe I’ll have to make a trip to Hobby Lobby for new necessities! It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.

My other problem is that in the last few months, I have covered nearly every available surface with dirty pours and other folderol. Since we moved to Georgia, I have  considered myself a minimalist when it comes to decorating other than Christmas fluffery. Not any more! Where in the world am I going to put Christmas trees?

I guess that is a moot point since the one white tree I found had turned yellow with age. I thought I kept the super modern trees, but I guess I didn’t. They were too big anyway for the space now that the pool table occupies a majority of the living room. Sigh.

Pinterest has some interesting DIY flat trees. I might try to make one or two – my own interpretations of course!

Until I finish decorating – probably a week from now – my living room will look as if it exploded with glitter and garland.

The first thing I put up is an advent calendar I made years ago. It doesn’t match my decor at all, but its theme is perfect. The traditional creche scene reminds me what Christmas is all about. John 3:16, 17 says, “For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.” Living Bible

“So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness, And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” John 1:14 New Living Translation

An old Mosie Lister song says,

“Jesus loves me and I guess that says it all.
It says enough to satisfy my soul.
Jesus loves me and I will not ask for more.
I know He cares for me and that says it all.

If I had a thousand years to tell it
I still could not begin to really say
How much it means to know that the One who loves me so
Is Lord of Lords and King of Kings today.

I hope you agree my advent calendar says it all.

Blessings
