Little Black Book
Every year, I give my family gifts for New Year’s Day along with a relevant object lesson. This year’s “Lions Not Sheep” lesson (rant) ended up with tiny sheep statues (listen to the Good Shepherd’s voice) and tee shirts stating “Lions not Sheep”. I found perfect journals and notebooks emblazoned with “Be Fearless” for us all. My prayer for this year and always is that my family stay true to the Word of God, always standing bravely against anything that would lead them away from God.
My regular journaling and Bible study notes I do on the computer, but I have used my “Be Fearless” journal for taking notes on the sermons I listen to throughout the week. I use the little black notebook to keep track of my daily chores, list things or ideas I don’t want to forget, and my shopping lists. I find I get more done if I write in my book. Plus, it’s great fun and motivation to be able to check off things along the way! Nerd to the core!
I often carry the precious notebook with me from room to room to write thing down quickly. It gets carried pretty much everywhere I go. It is a tad too big for my purse, so it does not get safely stored during its travels.
Ronald and I had gone to Home Depot for more Floetrol for more dirty pours – Yay! I also needed another gas tank for my blow torch. I love a fun power tool! Of course, I had my notebook along to provide the proper shopping reminders for the day.
Imagine my horror when I got to the checkout and my notebook was missing in action!
I hurried back to the garden department, then retraced my steps to the paint department, tools, and back to check out. Nothing!
I looked for it at home that night. The next morning, I searched the house and car and hoped I had left it in either place. As we went on another shopping trip, I called Home Depot. Sure enough, someone had found it at customer service which had been my first stop as I entered the store! I was so thankful.
Then I got to thinkin’.
Am I as concerned about the spiritually lost as I was about that crazy notebook?
Sadly, no.
In these perilous times, I need to change my wicked ways and think more of others. Prayers for those without hope in Christ need to supersede my selfish day to day personal agendas and worry about things.
Paul was sent by God to bring the Truth of the Gospel to the known world to open their eyes, turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Those who believed would receive forgiveness for their sins, be given a place among God’s people, and be sanctified by faith in Christ.
May that be my prayer and purpose.
