Cryptic Conversations
Technology connects people in strange ways. I got a text the other day which was meant to go to a guy named Brian. The woman explained in detail how sick she had been. I informed her she had the wrong number and texted a prayer for her. I continue to pray for the woman I will never meet.
A more troubling conversation called me to prayer for the unknown millions around the world who are living in fear or are being persecuted.
I was doing an online chat to clear up a technical problem I was having. The first comment the person made was, “I hope you are safe.”
I said, “I don’t live in fear. We are fine. The Lord is good.”
She said she agreed and posted a heart emoji. To me, that indicated she may have been a believer. She then said, “I’m glad you are safe.”
Being the totally politically incorrect person I am, I wrote, “You must live in the North to be that worried about being safe.”
She said she was offshore and said once again, “I’m glad you are safe.”
At that point, I was alarmed and asked, “Are you safe, dear? Are you afraid of sickness or persecution?”
She quickly responded, “No, No. I’m okay.” Again, the heart emoji appeared with the words, “Good is good.”
Was it a typo or a safety speak? Was it all my overactive imagination?
Or was it a prompt for me to be more diligent to pray for those around the world and here in the good ol’ USA who are afraid to speak Truth?
I don’t know. In the meantime, I will watch for opportunities to share God’s love.
Maybe even to some irksome telemarketer who wants me to renew my car warrantee or pay off my school bill! Nah! That would be way beyond what God expects me to do, though I’m pretty sure my imprecatory prayers on their behalf go a little overboard! I’m far from perfect, you know.
Blessings
