Bubba Chic Take 2
Well, bless my heart. Having a pool table in the middle of the living room required a bit of rearranging, but all is well. It didn’t turn out as bad as I thought.
The truth be known, I was WRONG! Getting the game table for Ronald was one of the best things I’ve done lately. He has a good time challenging himself as he clears the table with the fewest strokes. He and I are having grins, giggles, and outright guffaws as I try my hand at the game.
Here’s my style. I use my walking stick with a one inch end to break. Amazingly, I hit some. Sadly, the cue ball is usually the first to go in a hole. Next in my repertoire is a series of clean misses, shots sinking only the white ball, or landing one ball and the cue ball both in the corner pocket. I was always good for a laugh!
Sometimes, I do what I have my piano students do – Try It Again! Ronald laughs at my consistently unfortunate attempts. When I totally miss hitting any ball three times in a row and try again, I quit after the fourth flub. Sometimes, miracles happen, and I actually get one in! Today, I got a double ball drop! Not where I expected them to go, but two fell in! Amazing!
“And he who waters will also be watered himself,” says Proverbs 11:25.
So, what does that mean in my case? I gave in to something I was not initially crazy about. I have reaped a triple blessing as number 1 – I enjoy watching Ronald enjoy playing. Number 2 – The table has provided us with special together time. And thirdly, having the table has provided lots of laughs! Finally, I learned a valuable lesson, and my spirit has been rewarded with joy! I guess that’s numbers four and five, but you get the drift.
Blessings! KB
