Liars, Cheaters, Thieves
As much as we’d like to lay those attributes at the feet of crooked politicians, they start out at a much more individual level.
Ronald didn’t have his phone and was looking for me in Walmart. As he searched, he saw a man take a donut from the case and eat it as he walked. A few minutes later, Ronald saw the same man get a coke from another case, pop the top, and drink it. Ronald then saw the man walk out the door without paying for anything.
A friend watched a woman pay for a few items then take the entire bundle of grocery sacks and shove them in with her purchase. When my friend told the worker overseeing the self-check section, the woman shrugged her shoulders and said the woman did it all the time.
What really chapped my backside was a message from Discover that there were several charges that were questionable. When I looked, the crook had tried to buy two things online valued at nearly a thousand dollars each. Lord bless Discover! This isn’t the first time they caught something on my behalf. Once, they called as Ronald was pumping gas and questioned the charges that day which showed out of state purchases. I had forgotten to let them know we would be traveling. I highly recommend the company.
But Lord bless us all unless things turn around in this country! When we shrug and say there’s nothing we can do about even the most flagrant acts of dishonesty, we are sunk. Unless God intervenes and changes the hearts of mankind, evil will continue to overtake America and the world.
How can we fight this corruption? What are our most effective weapons? You got it! Prayer and the Word of God. The Truth of the Word is to be believed and used a a sword. Back that up with fervent and consistent prayer. Attack evil and WIN as we call on Jesus’ name!
Count this as a rant and an early sermon.
There is an exhaustive number of Bible verses about liars, cheaters, and thieves. Read about them for yourselves. You’ll see that they are sins which are punished, if not in this life, they will be punished in the life to come.
I hope we can all make a new determination to do what is right. I trust we will take every opportunity to teach our little ones and young people over whom we have influence that honesty is indeed the best policy! (Except men – this is a word of wisdom. When a woman asks if her dress makes her look fat, don’t lie. Walk away and pretend you didn’t hear!)
