Mismatched or godly?

Well, bless my heart! Honestly! What’s going on? Maybe my eyesight is going wonky, or my color matching abilities have taken a nose dive. Whatever it is, there is a problem!

When I go to a store’s fabric section, I have the clerk double check my color match. Sometimes, it’s a yes. Sometimes, no.

My girls laugh at my penchant for the same colors – blue and green. Every day I ask myself, “What shall I wear today? Something blue, green, or blue and green?” Weird, but I like it! And dern it! I’m old enough to wear what I want! (Except I have to wear orthopedic shoes all the time. Sigh.)

The problem lies in the various shades of blue. In the low light of my bedroom, many of the shades of blue match. In true, natural light, my ensemble components are often slightly off kelter. I didn’t realize this morning’s choices were mismatched until we were way down the road. Ooops!

Then I decided, who cares?!!?! If you think I dress funny, don’t look! Then I shifted into my self-justification mode. God says we are to become more like Him. Here’s how.

Have you seen bright baby blue skies mixed with various shades of stormy dark blues? So many shades adorn the heavens, it is beautiful!

So, you see? I’m just trying to be godly! My color combination isn’t goshawful! It’s my inadvertent attempt to follow God’s creative ways!

Seriously, there are many ways I want to follow God’s example. I don’t know why He created man to have a free will, but He did. He probably wanted His special creation to choose to love and obey Him willingly.

The Bible lists God’s ways of  doing things. If I choose to follow those ways, I will have inner peace that comes from His Holy Spirit.

Is my life always easy-peasy? Well, no! But I guarantee you that the real me – my soul – will be comforted here and will live forever in total bliss in the life to come! Whoop! Whoop! I’ll seek to match God’s standards at every opportunity.

Here’s a pretty comprehensive verse, paraphrased by KB.

God has shown you what He requires and what is good. Do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God!     Micah 6:8

Blessings

PS Do you remember my blog where I explained big G and little g? Only God is Godly. We can try to be what God wants us to be, but the best we can ever manage is godliness. We can never be as God or equal to God!
