No Pain, No Gain
My youngest, Missy, used to say, “Exercise bothers my body!
I can guarantee you! It sure ‘nuf does mine!
My understanding of all things medical and physically challenging is negligible to non-existent. Several days ago, I complained in a blog that my overly enthusiastic exercise routine was causing bursa and other aliments. Today I went for my aqua therapy evaluation. The therapist reiterated my epiphany that 750 reps a day on certain muscles was a little much. She also made sure I knew that I was to exercise different muscle groups each day and stressed the importance of rest to keep from stressing the muscles too much.
Which brings me to – you got it! The sermon of the day!
I am restudying the book of Genesis. God worked on creation for six days and rested on the seventh. The inference there is that we should rest one day a week. He probably just did it to set the example for we who are overachievers. I wonder if much of our stress of life is due to not taking a special day to worship the Savior? As Christ followers, we should honor God on all days, but I encourage you to take a special day each week to devote to study and worship with other believers.
There is also a daily need for resting in the Lord. Walking daily trusting in the Lord will mean our souls will achieve spiritual strength in Him and become all He desires for us to become.
Psalm 91:1-2 says, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
