Creative Giving
In November, I hosted a Celebrate Life Party. Man! Was it fun! The weather was perfect, the food was outrageously good – meaning the only thing I made was Devil Woman Cookies. Everyone was so excited to be with other people, we had a great time.
Because I have been very mindful of the blessing of life after my knee surgery and the resulting complications, I particularly wanted to celebrate God’s care and the wonderful medical staff who were amazingly talented, kind, and patient with me. As I considered celebrating life, I thought of our family’s commitment to the PRO-LIFE movement. Our Missy has been an outspoken advocate for the unborn. Furthering her mission through my party seemed like a no-brainer.
I covered a large box in shiny blue paper – what else did you expect? I had cards for people to write things they were thankful for which were then taped to the outside of the box for everyone to read. The huge box was quickly filled with all sorts of gifts and checks for the local pregnancy center. The amount of the donations greatly exceeded what I could have done on my own.
Herein lies the challenge of the day. What interests do you have to further the Kingdom work in which you could band together with other believers to more effectively share God’s love?
Our local pregnancy center has 5K runs (not my thing!) to raise money. Others have raffles, large fundraiser banquets, and online facebook fundraisers. Others individuals offer services as peer counselors or teach parenting classes. There are lots of ideas out there! Take a stand and support God’s precious little ones!
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-26 NLT

My cookies are called Devil Woman Cookies because I am evil to make them. My girls can’t stop eating them. I would share a recipe but since I didn’t follow it anyway, it wouldn’t do you any good. It is basically a cream cheese cookie. This time, I added chia seeds as a natural thickener to fresh raspberries for the dollop in the middle. Yum!!!
