Secrets, Confidences, and Assumptions

Well, bless my heart! All I can say in my defense is it started with my misspent youth.

As a young child, I told my daddy at Christmas, “I not telling you what it is, but it sure will feel warm on you hands!” As I’ve said before, secrets are so over-rated.

When we were young adults, my friend, Jody, called me out when I gossiped about a confidential matter. I have been very careful to follow her wise advice since then.

Then there is my tendency to assume. And you know what they say about that!

Because I’m not techno savvy enough to see who is reading my blogs, I assumed my daughters were not looking at my facebook posts. Therefore, I shared the New Year’s object lesson online. Mistake. Yet, it doesn’t really matter. I enjoyed writing it, they’d get to see it sooner or later, and I don’t have to worry about spilling the beans for another 24 days! Win-Win! Another screw up, another blog! Win-Win-Win!

I do have something else to share, but it isn’t a secret. God loves you very much!

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!”  Lamentations 3:22-24 NLT

And my prayer for you today.

I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:16-19 NTL
