All That Glitters

Shakespeare gave us an old saying. “All that glitters is not gold.” Which is a cryin’ shame at my house! I’d be rich as Midas!

I must be part crow. Anything glittery or sparkly is my jam!  When there is light or something that reflects light, I am happy is a clam.  Add to that my love of a full moon like a wolf and you’ve got an odd creature – me.

I cover all sorts of things with glitter – candle sticks, angels, creches, mirrors, and pretty much anything that gets in my way. If you come to my house, don’t sit still for too long or you may get sprayed with glitter. Except you may already have glitter on your pants, shoes, or hands. Shoot! You may even end up eating a little glitter! (Missy and Ronald ate blue glittered lobster one Thanksgiving. Don’t ask.)

Anyway. Let me explain the picture. For Halloween, the plan was for us to do the Disney bounding dress up and go out to eat. Everyone but me went as someone from the 101 Dalmatians. I could not make myself dress that way. Number 1, I made this great cape two years ago and had yet to wear it. I wanted to at least wear it once before I get shipped out to my heavenly home! Number 2, there are NO SPARKLES or GLITTER on Dalmatian outfits! So, despite being accused of asserting my individualism – aka  not going along with the plan, – I went as a VERY glittered up fairy godmother! Number 3, I don’t like wearing black.

The problem is making sure I get the glitter out of all the wrinkles on my face and on my neck!

WARNING! SERMON TIME!

Because I love God who is the source of all Light and Truth more than I love glitter, I am going to list a number of verses and let the Truth speak to you. Be Blessed!

Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. So if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for Living Light will flood your path.”     John 8:12  Living Bible

You are the world’s light – a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.     Matthew 5:14-16 Living Bible

In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of people who are crooked and stubborn. Shine out among them like beacon lights, holding out to them the Word of Life.     Philippians 2:14-16 Living Bible

Those who are wise – the people of God – shall shine as brightly as the sun’s brilliance, and those who turn many to righteousness will glitter like stars forever.     Daniel 12:3 Living Bible

 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8 NKJV

And finally, here’s my blessing I pray for you.

The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.  (And glitter occasionally! gospel according to KB)

 Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV
