Still Learning
You’d think since I am old as dirt I’d be smarter by now. No such luck!
Here’s how delusional I was during this Christmas decorating season. Yeah, I know. September is too early. For most people, not me.
Number one thing I discovered – Don’t try to save time by wadding a pre-decorated tree from last year into a box, no matter how big the box. The limbs get squashed, The ornaments hang at different angles. Not a time saver.
Number two – never buy a pre-lit tree. When a person puts up decorations months early, the lights just don’t last. Part of the reason I decorate early is my aversion to darkness. Therein lies a life lesson for another day.
Anyway, unlit trees are butt-ugly! I cut off the lights that didn’t work and completely decorated the tree. Hated it! Took off the ornaments, bought new lights, but not enough. Had to send Ronald to the store for more. Finally – the finished product.
Number three – Old sayings are mostly true – like third time’s the charm. Except when you are so sick and tired of redoing the sucker you could wad the whole thing into the garbage can!
Plus, it’s as crooked as a dog’s hind leg! It’s more like a Dr. Seuss cartoon tree. At least it leans the same way as my political viewpoint – a very strong proclivity to the right.
Anyway. One big tree finished. Three more to go.
Blessings

Psalm 71:18 NLT
Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God.
Let me proclaim Your power to this new generation,
Your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
