Georgia Priorities

First off, let me say I really like living in Georgia. That being said, let me tell you a funny, yet true story.

A few days ago, I had an appointment to get an APAP machine so I can breathe at night.

Somehow, the guy fitting the apparatus and I got to talking about electricians. I told Ben it is hard to get anyone to work on Fridays in Thomaston. Come Friday morning, the guys around town all head to the nearest fishing hole. If there is a choice between making a few dollars and fishing, the thrill of the dangling catfish wins every time. Ben said their electrician happened to be in the building.

He left and came back in with a polite young man who listened to what I perceived to be the problem with my electrical box and overall electrical system in our home. I have had a number of electricians in and have yet to have the problems rectified.

He agreed in my analysis and that there were problems in more ways than one. To fix the situation properly would require an expert and a person with lots of time.

When I asked if it was a job he could handle, he assured me that he was skilled. As far as time, he was forthright. “Ma’am, I could do the job, but I’m pretty booked up right now. Plus, deer huntin’ season starts next week.”

I threw back my head and guffawed. Making bucks in Georgia or killin’ ’em? We all know the answer!

Such is life in middle Georgia. Ya gotta love it!

Blessings

Maybe the electrician’s philosophy is based on Matthew 6:26, NKJV. “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
